We got back to Little Rock late Friday night from San Juan.
One of the highlights of our trip was hanging out at the beach at Ponce. The complex where we were had a golf course next door which had its own clubhouse, restaurants, pool and beach front. That's where Pamm hung out most of the time and where I joined her on a couple of occasions.
On Wednesday we went to downtown Ponce with Terry and Linda Barone from the California Baptist Convention, and Elizabeth Young with the Arizona Baptist Convention. We checked out the square, ate ice cream downtown, and several other sites, including:
* Parque de Bombas, a former fire station, painted with highly distinctive red and black stripes, and the symbol of the city. The building now houses the tourist office and a free exhibition of the history of fire fighters in Ponce, and is the departure point for the sightseeing train around the city.
* Catedral de la Guadalupe, which was directly behind Parque de Bombas.
* Font-Ubides Residence. This is an old, beautiful house built by one of the early Ponce families whose patriarch was an architect.
We also had fun with Terry and Linda on Thursday when we went snorkeling together at West Divers La Parguera, which was about a 45-minute drive from our hotel.
Located in the southwest of the island, La Parguera is by far the most visited tourist place in the area. It is a small village that it is oriented for the tourist and our local visitors that want to enjoy the uniqueness of the town. It also has some of the Premier attractions in Puerto Rico: World Class Diving, a Nature Reserve and a Bioluminescent Bay (unique). Combining all of that and the best wall diving in the Caribbean, The Wall in La Parguera is not to be missed by the serious divers.
On Friday, we got up and checked out of our hotel and drove to San Juan. There, we checked out the Mall at San Juan, an upscale mall near the San Juan airport.
